The
Institute of Biophysics in Nanjing University is founded in 1996. This
Institute acts as the essential part of the biophysics program in
Department of Physics, Nanjing Univerisity, and is also one of the
principal groups in the National Laboratory for Solid-state
Microstructures (named as the group for soft condensed matter and
biological condensed matter). Presently, the main research interests
are focused on the interdiscipline topics related to condensed-matter
physics, statistical physics, and biology with theoretical and
experimental methods, as well as some theoretical projects related to
the condensed-matter physics.
Main Research Directions:
(1) The dynamics of biological macromolecules (Proteins and RNA) with theoretical and simulational methods.
(2) The properties and applications of biological materials with single
molecular techniques and their nano-scale manipulations.
(3) The dynamics of biological networks in system biology with theoretical and simulation methods.
Main Research Funds£º Presently,
our group is running with several research funds from National Natural
Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Ministry of Science and Technology
of China (MOST), Ministry of Education of China (MOE) and Natural
Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province. We have completed many
important projects with the supports of varius funds, such as
National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Key Program of
National Natual Science Foundation, National Climb Plan, Science Foundation of Ministry of Education of China, Science Foundation for Youth of Jiangsu Province and etc.
